Barwon Child, Youth & Family to expand services in Colac and Winchelsea

Barwon Child, Youth & Family (BCYF) has been awarded a contract to stretch our placement prevention programming to Colac, the first time this program type has been funded for this community. BCYF’s intention is to work in partnership with Colac Area Health and the Colac Child Protection office to align this service with the Integrated Family Services service system. Placement prevention services seek to preserve the family unit where there is a risk of removal of children due to protective concerns; by way of intensive case management and therapeutic responses.

Winchelsea too will see growth in BCYF’s involvement in their community where further services beyond the existing Early Years programming offered by BCYF will soon be delivered. To assist with this expansion of services, BCYF will be relocating offices to a visible and branded premises in the heart of the Winchelsea shopping precinct. BCYF would like to thank our partners at Hesse Rural Health for the previous co-location arrangement we had with them.

Barwon Child, Youth & Family has a long standing commitment to the communities of Winchelsea and Colac. To this end, we have established a strong service presence in Colac in our refurbished offices on Bromfield Street. From this office we deliver Early Years programming, as well as Youth Programming. This centre is also instrumental in assisting the Kindergartens in Colac for whom we are the Cluster Manager.
