BCYF & Bethany to merge

Barwon Child, Youth & Family (BCYF) and Bethany Community Support (Bethany) have today announced they have agreed to merge into a new single organisation.

Mr David McDonald, BCYF Board Chair, and Mr Chris Bowly, Bethany Board Chair, said the decision was independently made by both Boards, based on consultation and feedback from our service users, staff and stakeholders, as well as due diligence work undertaken.

“We believe that a new, larger organisation will provide tangible long-term benefits for our service users, staff and the communities we serve,” Mr McDonald and Mr Bowly said.

“We have seen an increasing demand for the services we provide and the needs of the people we support are becoming more complex. The decision to merge our two organisations was made based on the belief and evidence that we can achieve even stronger outcomes for our community as one single organisation.”

“Today we begin the creation of a new organisation, building on the strengths of both BCYF and Bethany. From here, there is still a significant amount of work required to prepare for the merger” the Chairs added.

“Both BCYF and Bethany will continue to operate as normal and we would like to remind the community that we are committed to being here to support you,” the Chairs said. “We also remain committed to our many vital and enduring collaborations with our stakeholders and will continue to work closely with you as we transition into our new organisation.”

It is expected that the merger of the two agencies will be finalised no later than 30 June 2023.
