BCYF gives thanks for the community’s generosity

We would like to say thank you to everyone who supported our 2019 ‘Foster a Future’ Christmas appeal. Thanks to you we raised an incredible $39,750!

The choice to support foster care tells us that the community is as passionate as us about providing safe and loving homes to children and young people who cannot live with their birth parents.

This support assists us to recruit, train and retain the amazing people in our community who choose to be Foster Carers. This will also allow us to provide more recreational activities for the many children and young people requiring care in Geelong and the Barwon region.

We raised $26,108 through our 2018 appeal, and that money directly funded additional recruitment, training and support for Carers, along with wonderful recreational experiences for children and families in 2019. From a footy clinic with Geelong Cats players to a Christmas celebration, these experiences were “firsts” for many of these children in care. We look forward to being able to provide many more recreational opportunities and ‘firsts’ for children in care, and continue to improve and expand our recruitment, training and support for Carers this coming year.

We would also like to acknowledge all of the local businesses and individual community members who donated gifts this Christmas. This incredible generosity meant that around 300 children in need experienced the joy and excitement of receiving something special at Christmas.
