Change Christmas for a local family in need – Donate to the Geelong Giving Tree Appeal

Christmas is a time for joy and celebration, but for many in our community, it can be a difficult time. This year, more than ever, we need your help to spread some joy to the Geelong community this festive season.

Today, BCYF is collaborating with Bethany Community Support, 93.9 Bay FM and The Sexual Assault and Family Violence (SAFV) Centre to launch the Geelong Giving Tree Appeal.

The Geelong Giving Tree Appeal, through the generosity and support of the Geelong community, is hoping to raise $100,000 to ensure that every child and family are able to experience a little bit of happiness at Christmas.

Being conscious of the COVID restrictions and to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all, we are asking people to donate funds, not gifts, to the Geelong Giving Tree Appeal. Donations will then be used to purchase gift cards, that will be distributed to local families nominated through local community support agencies in the weeks leading up to Christmas to allow them to purchase a gift of their choosing.

“BCYF is delighted to be partnering with Bethany, 93.9 Bay FM and the SAFV Centre to launch the 2020 Geelong Giving Tree Appeal,” BCYF CEO Sandy Morrison said.

“Being able to work collaboratively to make Christmas a happier time for children, young people and families supports BCYF’s vision of a community where people are safe, connected and empowered to live well.

“Geelong is known for its’ compassion and generosity and we are so grateful to those who are able to donate to this appeal. Even a small donation will help create a brighter Christmas for our community.”

If you would like to share the Christmas spirit, please donate to the Geelong Giving Tree Appeal from 16 November-1 December at www.bcyf.org.au/geelong-giving-tree-appeal/ and help brighten someone’s Christmas Day.

We look forward to bringing much needed Christmas cheer to the community of Geelong in 2020 and thank you for your ongoing support of this appeal.
