Flinders Kindergarten rated Exceeding against National Quality Standards

Flinders Kindergarten have achieved a rating of Exceeding the revised National Quality Standards in a recent assessment by the Quality Assessment and Regulation Division of the Department of Education and Training.

Barwon Child, Youth & Family (BCYF) who manage the operation of Flinders Kindergarten congratulate the team on achieving this exceptional result.

“We know the importance of a child’s early years and that delivering quality educational programs prepares children for success at school and throughout life. Receiving an Exceeding rating is an outstanding achievement for Flinders Kindergarten and reflects the dedication, expertise and excellent service the team provide to families in the Lara community,” said Barbara Hayes, Manager Early Years, BCYF.

Mrs Hayes said the assessment is an extensive audit of the Kindergarten across seven National Quality Standards and aims to raise the quality and drive continuous improvement in early childhood education.

“The assessment which was conducted in May 2018, focuses on level of competence in areas including education program and practice, children’s health and safety, physical environment, staffing arrangements, relationships with children, collaborative partnerships with families and communities and governance and leadership.”

“To achieve an exceeding rating across all of these areas is the result of the strong partnership between the Kindergarten educators, Flinders Kindergarten Committee and BCYF Early Years Management team who all contribute to ensuring children at the service enjoy high quality education in their early developmental years,” she added.

Jamie Stevens, President of Flinders Kindergarten said local families were impressed with the outcome.

“Our families feel privileged to have their children attend a kindergarten with dedicated and committed educators providing a high quality, educational program in an inspiring learning environment.”
