Grovedale’s Greenville Kindergarten ‘Exceeding National Quality Standard’

Grovedale’s Greenville Kindergarten has achieved a rating of ‘Exceeding’ in a recent assessment of the education and care service against the National Quality Standard (NQS) by the Quality Assessment and Regulation Division of the Department of Education and Training.

The kindergarten was assessed in seven quality areas; educational program and practice, children’s health and safety, physical environment, staffing arrangements, relationships with children, collaborative partnerships with families and communities as well as governance and leadership.

The service was praised for its focus on embedding an awareness of the traditional owners of the land and having a strong focus on the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture, as well as its carefully curated indoor and outdoor spaces, designed for a variety of opportunities for play, learning and imagination.

The educators were commended for their commitment to the rights of all children, by encouraging them to be independent, resilient, respectful and responsible, while supporting and guiding them in response to their individual needs.

BCYF (Barwon Child, Youth & Family), who manages the operation of Greenville Kindergarten, congratulated the team on achieving this exceptional result.

“We know the importance of a child’s early years and that delivering quality educational programs prepares children for success at school and throughout life,” Director Early Years, Barb Hayes said.

“Receiving this high rating is an outstanding achievement for Greenville Kindergarten and reflects the dedication, expertise and excellent service the team provides to families in the Grovedale and surrounding communities.”

“To be recognised as such a quality service is the result of the strong partnership between the kindergarten educators, Greenville Kindergarten Committee and BCYF Early Years Management team who all contribute to ensuring children at the kindergarten enjoy the best education in their early developmental years,” she added.

With Greenville’s result, all of BCYF’s Geelong kindergartens – Belmont Community Kindergarten, Flinders Kindergarten in Lara and St Albans Park Kindergarten have now achieved the Exceeding National Quality Standard result at their most recent assessment.
