Foster Carers can assist by providing:
- Overnight or emergency care
- Respite to parents or other Foster Carers one weekend a month or once a fortnight.
- Short or long term care (up to 6 months)
- Long term care (over 6 months)
The role of Foster Carers:
Barwon Child, Youth & Family Foster Carers provide a safe, loving and nurturing environment for children and young people in their own home.
Foster Carers play an important role by assisting the children they care for to keep in touch with their parents, brothers, sisters and other significant people in their lives.
In 2018, Geelong Cats' Jamaine Jones was announced as our Foster Care Ambassador. Jamaine knows from personal experience, that every child deserves a safe and loving home and is supporting us in encouraging more people to consider becoming a Foster Carer with BCYF.
